Catch Up Post: 2018 Easter Cards

For Easter this year I did some fabric collage.

There was a series of Easter Eggs.  The eggs are fabric scraps that had fusible adhesive on them.  The background and the letters are paper.

There was also some Easter bunnies done with the same technique.  The bunnies and eggs are fabric scraps fused together and the backgrounds and words are all paper.  The second one had used stitching to enhance the card.

Sophie Kurszewski's Quilt

Tom Hughes started this.  Last spring, I made a quilt for his daughter who was graduating from high school.  This year the quilt is for his niece.

These memory quilts end up reflecting their owners.

Sophie is an athlete – she ran cross country, she played soccer and she swam.  So there were t-shirts from sports and of course soccer jerseys.  Add in the assortment of t-shirts from camps and schools and events and you get a memory quilt.

She was adopted from Guatemala when she was 3.  A part of her quilt is the dress she wore when she was adopted which has very, cool embroidery.  Her mom also came home from Guatemala with a hunk of hand woven fabric.  The fabric is now in the quilt and I made Sophie a pillow.

Once again I was invited to the party and had several people tell me they will need a quilt in the future.

I don't do anything special for the quilting.  I simply do long runs through my machine and make sure that no more than a 6 inch square is left between lines.

Thanks for stopping.
